Water management
Water is the source of life for humans, flora, fauna and the development of societies. It is also the source of great treasures such as the St-Lawrence River, lakes, rivers, oceans, glaciers, and also marshes, swamps and bogs.
As aboriginals, First Nations are conscientious of the importance of water for traditional activities such as hunting, fishing and trapping. The mental and physical health of First Nation populations with water and the waterways is inseparable. The quality of water is degraded in many of our water systems because of the increase in human activity. For First Nations, this degradation of the Earth means a deterioration of their health and their lifestyle, without them actually benefiting from real compensatory advantages.
Today, we know that all forms of life are bound to disappear. We need to use water respectfully so that we can save life on our planet. Let's use our resources better for our future generations.
The FNQLSDI has the mandate to associate itself with organizations that promote a sustainable development of water with the goal to increase awareness of First Nations and other users of water.
